I can't wait to see all the team and individual races this weekend. This is it! It is all on the line and when the dust settles there will be 6 new team champions and 6 new individual champions.
Predictions for state. Please join the fun and make your predictions.
Boys AA Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Rapid City Stevens, Brookings and Pierre. Addison Dehaven wins this one easily.
AA Girls Rapid City Central, Aberdeen Central, Rapid City Stevens, Yankton is getting healthy, SF Roosevelt and SF Washington. After Rapid City Central the team battle is going to be incredible. I am picking Kastigar to out-kick Propst!!! I wish Gorman was running because it would have been the best race of the day. It still might be?
A Boys Cheyenne Eagle Butte, Madison, Custer, Lennox and Spearfish. One of the best team battles in the state. Cheyenne Eagle Butte has to much depth and will win it with their 4th and 5th runners. If Custer doesn't have injury problems this year they would have been in the mix.
A Girls Spearfish, Garretson, Madison, Harrisburg, and Custer Spearfish and Garretson will be an interesting battle. On paper Spearfish should win but Garretson has the depth to take the title. If Madisons 3rd and 4th runners have a good day, they could be there as well
B Boys Parker will win this easily. Estelline, Dupree, Philip, Warner, Great Plains. Estelline looks good from Region times but Parker will dominate this one. Chase Kraft will win this one easily. Trust me, he is the real deal.
B Girls Ipswich, Gayville-Volin, Canistota, Lyman, Estelline. Ipswich and Gayville-Volin are both undefeated this year but Ipswich has 3 runners that will be in the top 10. Genevieve Clark is running great and Tori Moore is a warrior at state meets but if Macy Heinz is with them with 800 to go she will out-kick them both. This will be one of the best races to watch at state.

Couple rebuttals:
C-EB doesn't need a fifth runner and they don't need to worry about where their 4th runner places as much as their 1-3 runners. Madison should have their top 2 before CEB #1 and could have 3 in before CEB #2. I like Madison to win but they have been known to perform below expectations at this meet.
Jase (not Chase) Kraft will have to beat the two time defending champion Jongeling. We know Kraft is for real. So is Jongeling. I like the senior in this spot.

I disagree with madison have their top 2 before CEB 1 and with 3 in before CEB's number 2, CEB has risen to the challenge and will show it at the State meet.
all the races will be exciting to watch.

Kadoka will get on the podium if all three girls pack it up and break 16:30. They always run well at state. That is what is so much fun about the B division. You are only as good as your 3rd runner. Philip and Gayville-Volin have 2 really good runners (top five potential) and if their 3rd runner has one of those amazing races. They will be right in it for the whole thing.

Genevieve Clark is running great and Tori Moore is a warrior at state meets but if Macy Heinz is with them with 800 to go she will out-kick them both. This will be one of the best races to watch at state. I guess I see the AA a little differently: For AA Boys - Roosevelt has been getting closer to Lincoln each time they have run. Unless there is a major collapse by either of these teams, I don't see anyone running with them. Places 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be a dog fight. Stevens will have to run better than they have and Burdick will have to run if they want to finish in the top 4 or 5. Without Burdick, I don't see them ahead of any of the teams listed. Pierre and Brookings are razor close and will come down to the 5th runner. Brandon Valley is another team to watch. DeHaven has a training plan that takes him out to December...when the Footlocker will be held. Other runners have a plan that takes them out to the State Meet. Addison should win quite easily, but don't be surprised if others are closer than expected. AA Girls - RC Central is the heavy favorite. With an extra runner brought up from the 7th grade, their position was solidified. The race for second will be interesting. With Gorman out, Stevens could fall to 4th or 5th that quickly. Brandon Valley isn't mentioned here but right now they are the second best team in the state. Aberdeen, Pierre and Washington round out the teams with a chance of finishing in the top 4. Yankton has a nice 1 - 2 punch, but fall off significantly after that. Roosevelt is not the Roosevelt of the last decade...I would be surprised if they finished in the top 8, very similar to last year's team. Individually, Propst had a poor outing for her at the ESD meet. Kastigar looks to be in great shape and is the favorite going into the state meet. However, Kruse and Woods are coming along nicely for Yankton. Kearney for Washington had a very impressive GDC meet and won't be far off the pace. It could be a race that comes down to the last 600 meters.

This is great. The cross country state meet has so many battles that there is nothing like it. Every post is great. Keep on making predictions! Sorry Jase. I didn't mean to get your name wrong.

if you have CEB boys winning then there will only be 5 new team champions. CEB has won the Class A boys the last two years.

Spearfish boys finished one point behind custer at regions and there top four are in a strong pack. They might beat out lennox or even custer.

Custer will do better in a large field, though. Spearfish is solid, but a 4th place team at best.
You have to believe Herman is going to be Top 25 at worst if he runs.

Black Pepperjack: Agree with your Herman assessment. I would compare it to Donovan Brother Of All from Winner from last year. Clearly a top talent but fitness level and injury problems take away his ability to sustain or attempt a fast pace.
C-EB is a scary team. They are well coached. I believe if Madison runs well, they win. Even if C-EB performs well, and they will, Madison will have to falter to lose. Watch where Madison's 3rd runner is throughout the race. That could be the difference. If he is top 15-20, they are in good shape.

CEB has four capable top 25 runners, if they run like they did at their region, madison isn't going to be close. Norris ran a 16:12 two seconds off what Kraft ran there back in September so Norris could be ready to take a chance at State.
Herman isn't listed with the team for team rosters on the high school association site, but they have some good runners also.
Good luck to all

Has anyone seen the Parker boys and Ipswich Girls run? I was looking at the latest coaches polls and I find it hard to believe that they are such a heavy favorite. Estelline boys and Gayvillle-volen girls look to be just as good. Comments anyone??

Believe it. Both Parker and Ipswich are really strong. Ipswich girls may place three in top 5 and it is not a stretch to say they have 3 individual title contenders.
But, you never know what will happen when you only score three.
If C-EB runs like they did at the region, Madison isn't going to be close? Did you see the Region 2 results? It will be close.
I do like that C-EB ran well 1 through 6. All in the top 9. More margin for error if someone has a bad race. Madison doesn't have that luxury. C-EB is all juniors. Wow. Could win 4 in a row.
